Wirecard acquired PT. Aprisma Indonesia

Munich based global financial services and technology company, Wirecard AG has announced the acquisition of Indonesia based IT consultant PT. Aprisma Indonesia.  The transaction amount is EUR 73.8 million.  

PT. Aprisma was founded in 2000 and currently has more than 200 employees.  Its software solutions are based on Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), and is one of the leading payment service provider in the region.  Among its clientèle company has 20 leading banks and telecommunication companies in Indonesia as well as in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.  Its software platform provides solutions for online and mobile payments and other B2B and B2C related online payments.

Wirecard AG is head-quartered in Munich, Germany and has more than 14000 customers across the globe.  Company provides payment processing, risk management and card issuing services.

Founders of PT. Aprisma will remain in the management team.  The acquisition is supposed to acquire all liabilities and is valued at EUR 73.8 million.  Apart from this there is a provision of two conditional payouts of EUR 14.7, dependent on operational profitability of company in 2014 and 2015.  As per the data provided, it is expected that this acquisition will contribute EUR 6.5 million towards consolidated EBITDA (Earning before Interest Tax Depreciation and Amortization).

Wirecard  AG is well versed towards its attempt of expanding its wings in Asian region.  This acquisition is just aligned with that strategy.  This deal is expected to close by Q1 2014 and is subject to clearances from competent authorities of Indonesia.

Vodafone to launch NFC powered mobile wallet across Europe

Vodafone plc, a British multinational telecommunication company, with headquarters in London, has announced to launch NFC based mobile wallet service in partnership with Wirecard AG, Germany based financial services and technology company.  Company will launch the flagship service in Spain in November 2013 and Germany will follow in mid December, The UK and The Netherlands will follow thereafter somewhere during Spring of 2014.

VodafoneTo enable this technology, Vodafone has used its mobile wallet app Smartpass. Vodafone customers with NFC enabled sim card will make contact-less payment at the PoS (Point of Sale).  The payment wil be processed through Vodafone Smartpass credit balance.  Wirecard will provide NFC tags for mobile phone which lack NFC technology.  This NFC tag along with Smartpass app will enable customers to do the payment as described.  This technology will enable customers to send payment instructions from their mobile phone regardless of the bank they use.  

This service will be able to process payment at any Visa payment terminal.  Vodafone is also in talks with many European banks to add this technology in their portfolio.  Moreover company also plans to launch travel cards, gift cards, loyalty cards and vouchers apart from the core payment processing technology.
